Coming Soon
We are excited to tell you that we are planning to change the way we offer appointments.
We do not have all the details yet, but the plan is that some of our doctors will soon be working together with our receptionists to help make better decisions on what type of appointment to offer you.
Whether you contact us by telephone call, online or in person, we will ask you some questions to get the information we need from you, these questions will all be agreed by our GPs.
The information you give us will be looked at by a GP, who will make a clinical decision based on what you have told us. They will then ask our receptionist to either book the appointment or direct you to the best service.
Whilst our reception staff are well trained on recognising urgent problems, they know our appointment system the best and can help send you to local places that are better placed to help with your problem, such as pharmacies.
Our doctors are the most highly skilled in recognising urgent problems, and we want to use their ability to make sure that we give our urgent, on the day appointments to those who need it the most.
We believe it is also important that we can offer you choice. Experience and research shows that patients with long term illness can be treated more effectively when they see the same doctor again for their appointments. Sometimes, we know you just need an appointment with any doctor as soon as possible, which we understand of course.
We will make the best use of technology to make this all happen. Mainly, we will ask that if you can, that you contact us electronically. Don’t worry though, our phone lines and our doors will stay open. Also, we will send ‘booking link’ text messages’ where possible to give you the freedom to choose and book your own appointment.
This idea is something that has been growing rapidly in popularity in GP practices across the NHS, and is being highly recommended as a new way of working.
Please know that we are taking time to plan this, so we can make sure we get it right for our patients.
We hope that you also feel excited for this change, and that you trust us to make this a positive experience for you.
